Quotient Integration

In the process of selling a product or service it’s common that you send our quotes or proposals to a customer for them to accept. Quotient is a 3rd party service that specializes in just that. Quotient lets you setup quote templates, price item libraries and quotes that customers can accept right away online. You can read about those and more features on the Quotient website.

Quotient have built a great integration which automatically looks up Capsule contacts inside Quotient and through the use of Generated Links in Capsule they let you quickly create a quote in Quotient by clicking a link on a Contact, Project or Opportunity in Capsule.

Finally Quotient also has a simple option to add an email address to BCC all your quotes to. Use your Capsule drop box address in that field to automatically store all your Quotient quotes against the relevant contact in your Capsule account to make sure you always know what has been sent.

How to setup the Capsule contact lookup in Quotient

  1. Login to Quotient and click on your username in the top menu bar > Settings
  2. Under the Add-ons section, click the link to Show More Add-ons and then click on Capsule.
  3. Use the button to Enable under the “Lookup Contacts” heading. This will take you to a Capsule login screen to authenticate the integration. Enter your login details and click to Allow access for the integration.
  4. This will take you to the Lookup Capsule Contacts page. Now click the button to Enable to turn on that part of the integration

Now, any time you create a quote in Quotient and you start typing a contact’s name, Quotient will auto-suggest contacts from your Capsule account.

How to store Quotient quotes in your Capsule account

  1. Login to Quotient and click on your username in the top menu bar > Settings
  2. Under the Add-ons section, click the link to Show More Add-ons and then click on Capsule.
  3. Use the button to Enable under the ‘Send Emails to Capsule’ heading
  4. Now paste your Capsule drop box address into the ‘Capsule Email Address’ field and Save. If you need to find your Capsule drop box address, login to Capsule and click on your name in the top menu bar > My Preferences > Mail Drop Box
  5. Next you need to add mail@quotientapp.com as an additional email address on your Capsule user record. You can follow these steps to do that. This is needed because the Capsule drop box authenticates the email address you use to store emails with.

Once that’s setup, any time you send out a quote from Quotient it will be BCC’d to the Capsule drop box address and therefore stored in the history for the relevant contact in your Capsule account. If the contact doesn’t yet exist then it will automatically be created first.

How to create quotes in Quotient via Capsule

Quotient supports the ability to create a quote using a URL. What that means it that you can include details in a Quotient URL which in turn get passed into fields in the new quote. This fits into the Generated Link feature in Capsule. You can setup a Generated Link for Contacts, Projects and/or Opportunities which takes details from fields on the records in Capsule and passed it into a Quotient URL which in turn creates a quote with those details. For example, if you have an opportunity in Capsule with a name and it’s linked to a person with an email address then using a Generated Link you can click on the link to create a quote with the opportunity name as the name of the quote and the email address from the contact in Capsule populated as the quote recipient. Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Go to the Capsule Account Settings > Custom Fields
  2. Click Add New > Generated Link
  3. Give it the label: new Quotient Quote
  4. Set the Link Definition to: https://go.quotientapp.com/new-001/quote?email={email}
  5. Click Save

Then go to any contact who has an email address and you’ll see a link to ‘Go to new Quotient Quote. Click the link to create a new quote for that contact.
