Connect your AI tool to Capsule CRM through our remote MCP server and it can look things up in your CRM and add new records for you, from the chat you already have open.
If you've heard about MCP and wondered how to use it with Capsule, this is where to start. A custom MCP connection links Capsule to the AI tool of your choice, so you can ask about your contacts, opportunities, projects and tasks and get answers from your live CRM data.
What can you do with Capsule CRM in your AI tool?
- Find what you're looking for: Years of notes and deals can make a keyword search bring back far more than you need. Ask for what you actually mean, like "contacts in Denver with an opportunity we lost last year," and your AI tool searches Capsule for the records that match.
- Spot customers who need attention: It's easy to only follow up when a customer gets in touch first. Ask "Which customers haven't heard from us in 60 days?" then ask your AI tool to create a follow-up task for each one, so you can reach out before they drift away.
- Turn research into leads: If your AI tool can search the web, ask it to find local businesses that match the customers you usually work with, then add them to Capsule as new contacts. They'll be ready in your CRM rather than sitting in a list you meant to copy over.
- Type it once, update your tools: Ask your AI tool to add a contact, log a note or create a task, opportunity or project, and it goes straight into Capsule. If you've connected other apps to the same AI tool, one request can update those too.
Why use a custom MCP connection?
Use the AI tool you already have: If the tool you rely on isn't one of our ready-made integrations, you can still connect it to Capsule as long as it supports custom MCP connections.
- Work in one place: Ask questions and update your CRM without switching between apps.
- Keep control of access: The connection acts as you, so your AI tool can only see and change what your own Capsule user account can. You can revoke access at any time.
- Nothing to host yourself: Capsule hosts and manages the MCP server, so there's no server for you to set up or maintain.
Before you start
First, check that your AI tool supports remote MCP servers with OAuth and lets you enter your own client ID and client secret. If you're not sure, look in its settings for an option to add a custom MCP server or custom connector, or search its help docs.
During setup, you'll register your AI tool with Capsule by creating what's called an OAuth app. This gives you a client ID and client secret, which work a bit like a username and password your AI tool uses to request access to Capsule. You'll still sign in to Capsule yourself to approve the connection.
If you use ChatGPT, it’s faster to connect with our ChatGPT integration.
How to connect your AI tool to Capsule CRM
- Check that your AI tool supports remote MCP servers with OAuth and lets you enter your own client ID and client secret.
- Find your AI tool's redirect URL (the address it uses to complete sign-ins), usually in its settings or help docs.
- Create an OAuth app in the Capsule Developer Hub using that redirect URL, then copy the client ID and client secret.
- In your AI tool, add a custom MCP server using Capsule's server URL and your client ID and secret.
- Sign in to Capsule to approve access, then ask your first question.
Frequently Asked Questions
The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI tools connect to other software. Capsule CRM runs its own MCP server, and a custom MCP connection links it to the AI tool of your choice, so you can work with your CRM data from inside that tool.
Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP with OAuth 2.1 and lets you enter your own client ID and client secret. Tools that only support automatic (dynamic) client registration won't work with this connection.
No. Custom MCP connections use OAuth only, so you'll need to create an OAuth app in the Capsule Developer Hub.
Your AI tool can find information in Capsule CRM and add new contacts, opportunities, projects, tasks and notes.
It can also update custom fields on Contacts, Opportunities and Projects, which overwrites any existing value in that field.
It can't edit or delete your other existing records. We've kept it this way for now to help you avoid overwriting anything by accident.
The connection acts as you, so your AI tool can only see and change what your own Capsule user account is allowed to. It also only reaches into Capsule when it's working on something you've asked for.
The MCP server is hosted and managed by Capsule CRM, and requests are handled through our secure infrastructure. You can revoke your AI tool's access at any time.
Once your data reaches your AI tool, that tool's own settings and policies govern how it's stored and used. Check your AI tool's data or privacy settings to review its model training preferences.
Custom MCP connections are available on Capsule's Growth, Advanced and Ultimate plans.
You don't need to be a developer, but it may help if you're comfortable working in app settings. You'll create an OAuth app in Capsule and paste your client ID and client ‘secret’ into your AI tool, and the setup guide walks you through each step.
