How do I import my Act! contacts into Capsule?

Contact details can be transfered from Act! into your Capsule account.

Steps inside Act!

  • Choose File->Export
  • On the Specify Destination page, choose Text Delimited as the format
  • On the Specify record type(s) page, choose Contact Records and All Records
  • On the Specify export options page, choose Comma and tick the box to export field names
  • The defaults are fine on the Contact Map page so skip through that and complete the process to save the file
  • You'll now have a file which can be imported into Capsule

Steps inside Capsule

In Capsule, you click on People and Organizations > Import:


You click on Import from Outlook or CSV file


Select the CSV file you have saved:


Capsule attempts to match where in Capsule your information should be loaded. You need to check this match is correct and each field is being saved to the right place in Capsule. You can check several records by clicking 'Next Sample':


At this final step, Capsule attempts to match all contacts and highlights those that have a duplicate name already existing in Capsule. You can change 'ignore' to 'import' to upload a second contact:

You click I'm happy, import now and Capsule will import your contacts.
