Control who can export

One of the popular requests we’ve had from customers is control over which users can do a full export of contacts. A number of customers have told us they’ve spent years building up their customer database and so they feel it should be possible to prevent some or all of their users from exporting a copy to keep for themselves.

It’s now possible to control which users can export contacts, opportunities and cases to CSV or vCard file. When adding or updating a user, the following option will appear:

If the right to export is removed from an administrator then the administrator will not be able to assign the right to other users.

Can we control if other users can read each others posts?

Great update, I get asked by clients if Capsule has this feature when recommending it to them so this will definitely help the cause.

I would be keen to know what’s planned in the next release. Notification of when new releases are scheduled and what will be included would be greatly appreciated.

@Grainne - the new functionality provides control over the export only. This doesn’t introduce functionality to control which contacts/history a user can view.

@Joshua - great to hear this new feature will help the cause. Regarding notification of new releases, we publish details of new functionality once it’s available on the blog and through notifications inside the application. We release changes when they are ready rather than on a fixed release schedule.

Thanks for the update- appreciate that full user permissions is a big task for you, but this is a welcome step in the right direction, and will finally enable us to give a contractor access to the system
